Welcome to the 8th International Wetlands Conference!

A very warm welcome to the new web site of the 8th INTECOL Wetland Conference from both the Officers and Board Members. We hope that the site will allow an intensive participation by all those interested in the science of ecology and its application to wetlands worldwide. We are pleased to invite you to the 8th International Wetlands Conference to be held in the city of Cuiabá, Brazil, from July 20 to 25, 2008. Cuiabá - the geodesical centre of South America- is located at the border of the Pantanal. This wetland is one of the largest annually flooded savannas of the World. Situated in the triangle formed by Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay, the Pantanal attains global attention due to its large biodiversity and its importance for the hydrological budget of the Paraná-Paraguay river system. Therefore, Cuiabá is an excellent place for the INTECOL wetland conference that occurs every four years and constitutes a forum for the technical sessions, conferences and round tables about the study, research, conservation politics, protection, management and sustainability of wetlands. The conference is hosted by the Federal University of Mato Grosso (UFMT) and will be organized in collaboration with the Pantanal Research Center (CPP) at the Pantanal Event Center (Centro de Eventos Pantanal).
